I’m a bit concerned at the moment that it won’t have enough content to go the distance long term, with only two enemy factions (so far as we know), procedurally generated levels that can feel a bit one-note, and no real live-service roadmap at launch, but with such a strong, effortlessly fun foundation, it’s definitely off to good start. With all the over-the-top gore and patriotic pageantry of Starship Troopers, Helldivers 2 is the kind of wonderfully silly shooter that me and my friends could easily lose many Friday nights to.

While there’s a bigger focus on battle passes this time around, it does help the player a ton to give them objectives to strive for instead of just aiming to buy stronger equipment and weaponry. Helldivers 2 Visuals
Given that the original Helldivers from 2015 is still exclusive, though, we don't suggest getting your hopes up.
As it is now, it is an entertaining action spectacle that is definitely best when played with others. Despite the repetitiveness, I have had a lot of fun with it and I look forward to diving into new planets to save humanity.
Many games that support cross-platform play also allow you to carry your progress over to other versions as long as you link your accounts on different platforms together, but this isn't one of them. Sadly, Helldivers 2 does not support cross-save or cross-progression right now.
The various settings options mostly speak for themselves. There are two options of note though. The volumetric fog option seems to alter the resolution of the volumetric lighting in general, with lower resolution results at lower settings, while the anti-aliasing toggle actually does work properly on PC, completely turning off any AA treatment. It's weird that this setting doesn't do anything on PS5 but at least it functions as described on PC. However, the lack of any form of reconstruction option such as DLSS, XeSS or even FSR 2 is a real shame. Instead, a simple spatial upscaler is used, which bears the hallmarks of the OG FSR, just like PS5. Unfortunately, the unexciting visual settings do mean that the upgrades over PS5 aren't as Helldivers 2 Gameplay large as you might expect. There's little difference between the PC at max settings at 4K and the PS5 in its quality mode, absent some slightly higher resolution shadows and a bit of a cleaner image. It still doesn't provide a pristine image though and aliasing remains a significant problem.
Even if you’re playing on easy you’ll want to nab all samples and yellow beams you find. Those yellow beams give you credits for better unlocks, including the kind you can pay for in the shop, and don’t worry if your buddy gets to them first. The contents will be distributed to your team.
Helldivers 2 doesn't have a story campaign, pelo. Once you finish its tutorial, every mission you play will be a nonlinear, open-ended incursion that follows the format we described earlier in this article.
Controls feel sluggish compared to most 3rd person games. Graphics are good, but game play is literally the wash rinse and repeat, over and over again.
